Interface Modules   (click to return)

The simulator has three interface modules that provide an interface between the hardware components and the avionics. The modules are made from acrylic plastic and connect to the hardware by VGA straight-though cables.

Each module has a hinged lid that can be secured and includes 12 Volt fans for cooling. The Throttle Interface Module (TIM), because it includes 3 power supplies, has additional fans for cooling (6 in total - 4 on the sides and 2 in the upper lid). SMART also includes additional fans (5 in total). This is because SMART has a 400 hertz inverter which can become quite warm when it’s operating.

Modules Used

  • Throttle Interface Module (TIM)

  • Sim Interface Module (SIM)

  • Smart Interface Module (SMART)

  • Interface Alert System (IAS) (1)

  • Throttle Communication Module (TCM)

    (1)   IAS is incorporated into TIM.
